- She's a Mom. And being a Mom you just do not want to admit your kids could do something this horrific. Her instinct is to protect and defend her sons. Additionally, one of her sons is dead and the other is seriously wounded, so she has many different emotions right now.

- That poor child. She was probably abused by her parents her entire life. She was lucky enough to be able to get away from them and then someone chose to kill her. That just breaks my heart.

- At some point you need to let your kids have some freedom. If you don't they will be dependent on someone else for the rest of their lives. I'm sure the Mother is wishing she had not allowed her to walk to school. I have an 11 year old who has wanted to walk to the school bus stop since he was 7.
